... the opening of a most glorious exhibition, titled Shed of Leaves, by artists from Folkestone based group, White Shed1, who are gaining quite a reputation for diverse and interesting exhibitions. The works on show all have a literary theme or connection, including a mannequin inscribed with the cautionary words of a mother to her daughter and abstract canvases bearing the words of the German poet Rainer Maria Rilke2. The exhibition has been put together to offer a visual feast during Folkestone's renowned and vibrant Literary Festival.

This is my site The FG that I set up in a fever of excitement when we first came to Folkestone sometime in 2004. I'd been a regular visitor for a while before that so I am technically one of those Down From Londons you get nowadays. The site used to be updated more frequently with a gig calendar and voting for favourite venues and things, and I know it was a useful resource for those who were thinking of moving to the area. Now I've moved out of Folkestone again (though only a couple of miles) it doesn't get as much love as it used to. Ironic really as Folkestone itself is now becoming the exciting place we always thought it was just about to. I am not Gerald by the way, this comes from the name of a pretend newspaper in an episode of Brasseye or something, the Portsmouth Gerald, and how there is a local newspaper here called the Folkestone Herald.
