Something apparently "as pikey as Wilkinsons" to open in Folkestone

What on earth could that be? And HOW on earth could it be? I'm still reeling from the thought of that new shopping centre opening with a pound store in it on its very first day. Now Wilkinsons opens today, some good bargain drain unblocker and that but not really adding much to the town, and today the wife heard a rumour on the train that something even lower down the social shopping spectrum than what we already have is on it's way. Does anyone dare to imagine what this might be? We've already got a Woolworths, and a Lidl (or is it an Aldi)?

This is my website The Folkestone Gerald that I set up in a fury of excitement when I first came to Folkestone sometime in '04. I had been a frequent visitor for a while previous to that so I am technically one of those DFLs you get now. This site was updated more frequently with a gig calendar and voting for favourite places + things, + I know it was a useful reference for others who were moving here. Now I've moved out of Folkestone again (though only to Hythe) it doesn't get as much love as it used to. Ironic really as Folkestone itself is now becoming the exciting place we knew it was just about to. My name is not Gerald by the way, the name comes from a pretend paper in an episode of The Day Today or something, the Portsmouth Gerald, and how there is a local newspaper here called the Folkestone Herald. Puns like this are great aren't they? Do get in touch if you have something to offer, email anythign @ this domain, or try @folkestone or @pauly on Twitter.
