Billionaire Roger De Haan has revealed he is in negotiation with a number of companies which will become partners in the venture to realise his popular Masterplan vision.

The former Saga boss will redevelop the redundant site to provide benefits including 1,000 homes, recreational facilities, civic building, university campus and shops.

Mr De Haan told a business construction magazine: "The seafront and harbour development presents an extraordinary opportunity to provide Folkestone with a superb new waterfront development.

A little more here in the Herald. Sounds like it's going to be five years or more until it's finished though, bah.

This is my site The Folkestone Gerald that I built in a fury of excitement when we first came to Folkestone sometime in 2004. I'd been a frequent visitor for a while previous to that so I am technically one of those DFLs you get now. This site was updated more frequently with a calendar of events + voting for favourite places and things, and I know it was a useful reference for others who were moving to the area. Now I've moved out of Folkestone again (though just a couple of miles) it doesn't get as much love as it used to. Ironic really as Folkestone itself is now becoming the exciting place we knew it was about to become. My name is not Gerald by the way, the name comes from the name of a pretend paper in an episode of The Day Today or something, the Portsmouth Gerald, and how there is a local paper here called the Folkestone Herald. Puns like this are great aren't they? Do contact me if you have something to offer, email anythign @ this domain, or try @folkestone or @pauly on Twitter.
