Let the coffee wars begin!

Councillor Dan Hassett1 says Starbucks are definitely coming to Folkestone now1:

There has been much speculation about Starbucks opening in Folkestone. I can finally confirm that they will be opening in the new Bouverie Place shopping centre. They have applied for permission to extend opening hours to 7am-10pm and to have an outdoor seating area.

A bank/building society/Bureau de Change will also be opening in Bouverie Place. There have been rumours that HSBC is moving in. It's a large unit spread over two floors.

Costa's a bit pricey, and the queues are too long / slow, and Starbucks often has better food. Let the games commence!

This is my site The FG that I set up in a fury of excitement when we first moved here in approximately '04. I'd been a frequent visitor for a while before that so I am technically one of those Down From Londons you get nowadays. The site was a lot more dynamic with a calendar of events + voting for best venues + things, + I know it was a useful reference for those who were thinking of moving here. Now I've moved out of Folkestone again (though only to Hythe) it doesn't get as much attention as it used to. Ironic really as The town is now becoming the exciting place we always thought it was about to become. My name is not Gerald by the way, this comes from a fake paper in an episode of The Day Today or something, the Portsmouth Gerald, and how there is a local paper here called the Folkestone Herald. Puns like this are great aren't they? Do get in touch if you have anything to offer, email anythign @ this domain, or try @folkestone or @pauly on Twitter.
