It's all very well these nice new shops like Mini Mooch opening in Folkestone, but to be honest, that Old High Street is a bit too far away when you live in the opulent West End, like what I do. So it's great to see a new shop called Farago, opening on Bouverie Road West, where the off license was, next to Shanel's Brasserie. It will be selling retro things and collectable books, according to the swanky new window display, and I'm guessing it will be open any day now. It's a shame that that section of BRW is CURSED, and it will struggle... There's another new lpace offering "home fashions" just opposite Chambers, is this the fabled knock on effect of the regeneration of other areas already? Town is looking nicer these days I feel.

This is part of my site The 'Gerald that I set up in a fury of excitement when I first came here in approximately '04. I'd been a frequent visitor for a while before that so I am technically one of those Down From Londons you get nowadays. The site was a lot more dynamic with a gig calendar + voting for best venues and things, + I know it was a useful reference for those who were moving to the area. Now I've moved out of Folkestone again (though only a couple of miles) it doesn't get as much attention as it used to. Ironic really as The town is becoming the exciting place we always thought it was just about to. My name is not Gerald by the way, this comes from a pretend paper in an episode of The Day Today or something, the Portsmouth Gerald, + how there is a local newspaper here called the Folkestone Herald. Puns like this are GRATE aren't they? Do contact me if you have anything to offer, email anythign @ this domain, or try @folkestone or @pauly on Twitter.
