As one store closes...

FG ≫ 2006 ≫ As one store closes...

So, we're getting a Starbucks in Folkestone within the next two weeks, according to a small news piece in Folkestone Herald. You may think these chain coffee stores are the enemy, but they're surely a sign of regeneration, which is a good thing. AND, they do food and drinks especially aimed at vegans, very progressive, big thumbs up.

No venue confirmed yet, but my money is on Sandgate Road, the Ciro Citterio suit shop opposite Debenhams has closed down in a bit of a hurry, could be there.

Noticed yesterday too that the British Heart Foundation shop is also closing, remember when charity shops close this is also a good thing, it means there's a real business paying full rent that's waiting to move in.

What on earth is going to fill the space left by M&S though? That's one huge store...

This is my website The FG that I set up in a fury of excitement when we first came to Folkestone in approximately 2004. I had been a frequent visitor for a while previous to that but I am technically one of those Down From Londons you get now. The site was updated more frequently with a calendar of events + voting for favourite places + things, + I know it was a useful resource for those who were moving here. Now Iʼve moved out of Folkestone again (though only to Hythe) it doesnʼt get as much love as it used to. Ironic really as The town is now becoming the exciting place we always thought it was just about to. My name is not Gerald by the way, the name comes from a pretend newspaper in an episode of Brasseye or something, the Portsmouth Gerald, + how there is a local paper here called the Folkestone Herald. Puns like this are great arenʼt they? Do get in touch if you have something to contribute, email anythign @ this domain, or try @folkestone or @pauly on Twitter.
