time was that you could just cut them - they have no main header, and are arranged in a series of frames. Players didn't used to complain about half chopped intro or outro frames...
Actually - you probably still can - depends what you are trying to do and what kind of mp3s they are - info here mpeg format1 . Guess it would be nicer if someone had already done it in a module though.
