Electric multiple units with a sexy front end

FG ≫ 2004 ≫ Electric multiple units with a sexy front end

The Guardian has the story about the Folkestone bullet trains1, and confirms the idea that they'll only be ready for 2009:

The timetable for the trains has slipped by two years. The Strategic Rail Authority hoped to launch local services by the time the Channel tunnel rail link carries Eurostar trains to London's St Pancras station in 2007.

Read the rest of the story for more, all the papers are likely to be running this... can I wait until 2009 for property prices to boom though?

Oh, also:

Roger Ford, the technical editor of Modern Railways magazine, said: "These are not really bullet trains. They're electric multiple units with a sexy front end."

This is part of my site The FG that I set up in a fury of excitement when I first came to Folkestone sometime in 2004. I had been a frequent visitor for a while before that but I am technically one of those DFLs you get now. This site was updated more frequently with a gig calendar + voting for best venues + things, + I know it was a useful resource for those who were moving to the area. Now I've moved out of Folkestone again (though only a couple of miles) it doesn't get as much love as it used to. Ironic really as The town is now becoming the exciting place we always thought it was just about to. I am not Gerald by the way, this comes from a pretend newspaper in an episode of Brasseye or something, the Portsmouth Gerald, and how there is a local newspaper here called the Folkestone Herald. Puns like this are GRATE aren't they? Do contact me if you have something to contribute, email anythign @ this domain, or try @folkestone or @pauly on Twitter.
