The 10th Annual Kerrang! Awards will be held this year on the 21st August 2003 at a central London location, and if I keep running press releases like this, I'm sure to be invited! This year the event will be hosted by Radio 1 presenters Colin Murray (who I think plays popex) and Edith Bowman (who I stalked at Glastonbury, see pic) and will be filmed for a one hour Channel 4 show to go out on the 29th August. Edith and Colin will be joined by some of the biggest names in Rock both winning and presenting the infamous big Ks!

This years nominees cover the international spectrum of rock, from the best new British bands releasing their first records in the last year to some of the hugest legends of the world rock stage.

The Darkness lead the nominations with inclusion in the Best British Newcomer, Best Album and Best Live Act categories. This is surely the first time a Kerrang! Award nominee band have arrived at the Kerrang! Day of Rock straight from three nights supporting Robbie Williams at Knebworth in front of over 300,000 people.

The nominations cover the breadth of rock music covered in Kerrang! Magazine every week, from classic UK rock favourites like Iron Maiden; chart-bothering disco-punksters Electric Six; alt-blues rockers the White Stripes and US monsters of metal Metallica.

Rising Radio 1 stars Colin Murray and Edith Bowman present the Saturday morning show on the station from 10am-1pm. Since the pair started the show in March this year they've gained another show on the network which kicks off in September when they take on Sunday mornings, 10am-1pm. They also been out on the road this year getting stuck in to Radio 1's event schedule. Colin and Edith, both massive music fans and gig fanatics front a show which features brilliant new music, competitive banter and a healthy dose of filthy gossip. They are ready to rock.
