PopEx ≫ 2000 ≫ Coldplay at Barfly yesterday

Coldplay are SMASHING. \"They did one song twice, I think it's called Trouble, so I guess that's going to be the next single...\"

Coldplay yesterday were GRATE, and also the singer Chris Martin is just like Gaz Top, off TV. They did half a dozen songs at the Barfly (Camden Monarch), in a special, that's going out on Channel Four next month, as already mentioned lots of times... I made a note of the setlist, so I could do a professional review like, but I left it at home. They played Shiver, and Yellow, they did one song twice, I think it's called Trouble, so I guess that's going to be the next single. Anyway, the whole air of the gig was fun, and relaxed, and really showed the band in their best light - it was a pleasure to be there.

The real star of the show was R2D2 - well not actually R2D2, it was this remote controlled video camera on a stick, plonked in the middle of the stage. It was spinning round like a mad bastard, getting a lot of footage for the TV without the need for a camera man to be on the tiny stage.

If you can get to the Monarch before 6.30pm today, and tell them popEx sent you, you can see King Adora for free... PopEx will be reporting on that show tomorrow, but WON'T be gratuitously slagging of private conversations between audience members, oh no.
