PopEx ≫ 2004 ≫ Guns Don't Kill People, Rappers Do

Got the forthcoming single by Goldie Lookin' Chain, as rumoured it will be Guns Don't Kill People, Rappers Do and it's out on the 16th of August1.

It's not their best track, but it has a clean and almost friendly pop sound to it, even the rude sweary unbroadcastable version - all kudos to P Zain and his production skills. It sounds more like a traditional rap track, is it pastiche, is it piss take, it's even more confusing than it was before... Anyway, most importantly to all clarts, it doesn't seem to have surfaced in any format on any of the albums so far, so make sure you get it!

The CD and 12" are backed up with Soap Bar (which is ace) and Maggot's Stand Up (which is shit), and the DVD version features a video for the title track...

There are a bundle of opportunities to catch "this year's Darkness" at festivals over the summer, they play the dance tent at Glastonbury on Sunday, though if you're reading this, then you're probably not oging... they also play Dublin Oxygen Festival (July 10th), T In The Park (11th), Ashton Court (17th), Wakestock (24th), Reading (27th August), Leeds (28th) and Edinburgh Liquid Rooms (29th)...

The content here originally from my very popular (in the tail end of the '90s) website popex.com. Parts were written by valued punters, so mostly editorial originally created by me. I replicated this content here when popex eventually closed down at the start of the '00s. Hopefully this ignites memories (if you find it).
