A very welcome return for the very first band ever to be added to popex - David Devant and his Spirit Wife release new single "Contact" on Monday. It's mostly a mellow relaxed tune, it puts me in mind of lying on my back on the ground, looking at the sky, how bizarre... the brief wig out at the end is a smashing reminder that the band are now back to their original lineup, Foz? has returned from his sabbatical and he's brought his axe with him.
The single's backed with a radio edit of "One Thing After Another" from the second album, and a previously unreleased track "Lifeline". Neither are as raw or as in-your-face as some of the vintage Devant I've just been relistening to, but that's not to say not as good. "Lifeline" is certainly my favourite of this trio, I hope it appears on the new album "Power Words for Better Living", out in a few weeks...
David Devant play Lock 17 (excuse me if I still call it Dingwalls), Camden, London on Tuesday 20th of April - get your tickets from popex.com/artists/david_devant/tickets.html. Please. See you there.

I moved the content here here when the website eventually shut down at the start of the noughties. Hopefully this ignites memories (assuming you find it).
