PopEx ≫ 2001 ≫ Why popEx was out of action

Blah blah, internet, blah blah...

Any idea what any of this means? It explains why popEx was unavailable last night, apparently... Here goes:

During last night C&W INS migrated part of their core networking to a new platform (Juniper). During this time our RIPE IP range was mistagged by INS and as a result our network was being mis-reported to the internet.

The result of this was that although the service was up and working, and all our links were reporting as ok, there was no routing from other ISP's to us, via the INS network.

The problem occured at 3:30am 31st Jan and was resolved by C&W INS core team shortly after 9am.

Since then we have monitored instability on the lines and they are continuing to work ont he problem.

I would like to stress that our actual physical connectivity was functioning correctly, however there simply was no route from the Internet to us.

We apologise for the interuption and will continue to monitor the connectivity.

Cooper Temple Clause review on the way...
