PopEx ≫ 2000 ≫ Foo Fighters secret show - at WEMBLEY STADIUM

WORD in the HOOD is that the Foos are doing a secret show this Saturday...

According to organart.com 1 the Foos are doing a secret gig at Highbury Garage this Saturday, but word reaches here that the gig has already been moved once because of ticket demand, and will probably be moved again 2 3 4 5...

What's the point in doing this, with what was supposed to be a low key gig in the first place? Why not just book Earls Court or something to start with? It smells like an SCAM.

  1. It was someone from The Organ fanzine who told me about that Metallica secret gig at the Marquee that I didn't go to that time.
  2. UPDATE: Writing twenty years later, I think this is the very oldest post I still have on this site. Originally from PopEx and imported here. I wish I'd put all the popex posts on their own "board" rather than merging them into the blog, ah well.
  3. And revisiting again a few years after that I'm starting to move this content to its own board again! And this is the first post. It might have some duplication now saying "hey this was originally on popex" then. Think I might also add in a nod to the old popex page styling. Maybe combine it with a bit of a redesign and even further simplication of this site.
  4. Update update, reading this back in January 2023 and I found some older content that I did not have in my database backups but that was still on web.archive.org, so I imported some of that. Got nothing between November 1999 and March 2000 though. This is still the oldest news story I have in the "grey and orange" design.
  5. I now have screenshots of older content, This Belle and Sebastian post now takes that honour http://www.clarkeology.com/2000/02/11/stewart-leaves-bands/

💬 This seems to be the oldest surviving popex news post

This content originally from my very popular (in the late '90s) site popex.com. Parts were written by other people, but mainly originally created by me. I replicated this content here when the website eventually closed down at the start of the noughties. Hopefully this ignites memories if you find it.
