Blog2024 ≫ New blinds, slight return

We got measured up for blinds for the bedroom ages ago, probably more than a year, at the same time we got the new blinds in the lounge. I don't love the blinds in the lounge, they're OK. They unintrusive and look quite neat, but having one blind per pane instead of fewer larger blinds means more of a faff to open and close them. And automating that would be expensive, six motors for the lounge, probably three for the bedroom. Not that I am allowed to automate these yet. Instead probably going with a cheap white rollerblind like this and then a roller shade driver like this1. I have an even older even cheaper one in the playroom. Maybe I should replace that first...

I do have one more room automated now, did the light switch in the utility room. It wasn't highest priority, but basically all the other rooms are done. This is handy as there is no window there, so you always need the light on, and now I can do that with a sensor. Also if it were to be left on I can turn them off remotely. Also I added it to the "everybody out, so all lights off" front door switch.

Nice day yesterday, very nice indeed. Very busy with work but went for a walk after. Lovely sunshine, just down to Sandgate and back.

Light rain and a gentle breeze, 10 - 15℃.
