Suede Last gig ever! Played some great sets, the gig seemingly got chopped short, we left to the ghostly strains of "We'll Meet Again"... I hope we do.
Astoria
The Tears plus The Subways. First official gig for Brett Anderson and Bernard Butler's new band, though they went and did a couple of sneaky warmups before this in Oxford and somewhere else. Not that great really.
Heaven
The Darkness Big proper gig, with label mate support from Sweatmaster and Sludgefeast.
The Garage
Dogs D'Amour plus Under Neath What... went to London to see UNW a few days later, probably the Marquee...
Portsmouth Guildhall
The Primitives Ah, past their peak, still a treat to see them at a venue this size.
The Joiners
Snooker Jimmy White beat Peter Ebdon
Wembley Arena
Turbonegro Whole lot of sailor hats in the audience, great gig!
Mean Fiddler
Brian Wilson Yes of the Beach Boys, one to tick off the list. He was a bit unsteady on his feet but he had great support in recreating the perfect sound.
Royal Festival Hall
Christian Death
The Joiners
Oasis and the Bootleg Beatles
Southampton Guildhall
Jimmy Eat World
Astoria
David Bowie Plus Suede and Divine Comedy. It booted it down with rain, but we had a great time. Old Trafford Cricket Ground [Wednesday 10 July 2002]
Art A play, a birthday treat, long running, had Art Malik in it and it was Frank Skinner's first night.
Wyndhams Theatre
Carnival Inspiral Carpets, Pop Will Eat Itself, The Boo Radleys, Chumbawamba, Elastica, Terrorvision and more
Stanmer Park
Pop Will Eat Itself
Portsmouth Guildhall
Under Neath What I was in the queue for this gig and bought a fanzine off someone. Did I know Metallica were doing a secret gig just a few doors down at the Marquee club? Why on earth did I stay at the Astoria? Bah...
Astoria
Supergrass plus The Bluetones, a great gig, at a great time.
The Joiners
Thurman Britpop, I thought they were the greatest at the time but it's not all aged well
The Joiners
Oasis Did they have the Bootleg Beatles again? Or am I misremembering the Southampton gig?
Earls Court
Longpigs See that, five in a row, Perfume, Thurman, Fluffy, Gouge, Longpigs. At the time I thought what a GREAT time this is for music.
The Joiners
David Devant and his Spirit Wife A great gig, just round the corner from where I was living. Cheap booze and accompanying art exhibition.
Goldsmiths College
David Devant and his Spirit Wife Great band, not a good gig
Islington Academy
Glastonbury The year Pulp replaced The Stone Roses as headliners, along with Oasis and The Cure. Great weather.
Glastonbury
Pop Will Eat Itself PWEI, plus my favourite band of the time Atom Seed.
Brixton Academy
Big Top Frenzy Festival in Guildhall Square, Firework Party, The Rubber Bishops (Bill Bailey + Kevin Eldon, Midway Still, Alan Parker, Atilla The Stockbroker, Eat, Back To The Planet, Mega City Four, Trevor & Simon +
Portsmouth Guildhall
Uncle Bob's Wedding Reception Featuring Gene's Mat the Hat
Water Rats Theatre
Monsters of Rock Aerosmith, who I hardly even remember. Not a great lineup, though the biggest one ever. I enjoyed Wildhearts and Terrorvision.
Castle Donington
The Cure / NME Big Gig Interesting slating of last year's event here, but we will still go... SOLD OUT now, of course get tickets here...
O2 Arena
Shockwaves NME Awards Big Gig - Featuring The Cure Franz Ferdinand supporting, sold out tickets here still...
O2 Arena
Glastonbury Don't remember many bads, very bad weather, I think this was the one we went with no tent and just flip flops on.
