Ho ho, just read this spoof story about Dickens World.
A new £62 million theme park is being built in Chatham Maritime in Kent on a Dickensian theme in the hope of attracting foreign visitors in the same way that Fawlty Towers drew tourists into the Torquay area in the 1980's.
Visitors will be greeted by slack-jawed pickpockets and opium addicted whores and that's just the Folkestone ferry-port.

The story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
Apart from Folkestone not having a working ferry port right now, I'm not so sure...

You might have seen their "Ready Steady Kook" poster up in Chambers recently, or heard them in the hit parade, well The Kooks are coming to visit. It's all part of a "seaside tour", taking in coastal towns of the UK.
Date and more info as it comes in, I assume it'll be the Leas Cliff Hall. It's an odd one, looks like they've already sold out two nights at the Astoria...

SCREAMADELICA present Snow Patrol live, and a B&S DJ slot in Dublin... and a Libellous Vinyl night in Torquay - PopEx goes RURAL!
If you're in Dublin tonight, check out Richard Colburn from Belle and Sebastian will DJing and Snow Patrol and Estel (Mogwai, but girls, apparently) playing live at SCREAMADELICA, Temple Bar Music Centre. 7.30 til 2.30, 8.50 to get in, but that's possibly in punts, not pounds.
The first 3 people to email me before lunchtime yesterday get in free... Hmm, have I messed up?
Also tonight, Libellous Vinyl have a do at The Parrot, in Torquay, featuring The Duvals (from London, see, it's not completely unrelated to my tiny London Media world) and Tiltwheel, from Californ eye ay.
