The Tears 9 Heaven 16 Dec 2004 plus The Subways. First official gig for Brett Anderson and Bernard Butler's new band, though they went and did a couple of sneaky warmups before this in Oxford and somewhere else. Not that great really.

Thurman 8 The Joiners 14 Sep 1995 Britpop, I thought they were the greatest at the time but it's not all aged well

Longpigs 8 The Joiners 28 Sep 1995 See that, five in a row, Perfume, Thurman, Fluffy, Gouge, Longpigs. At the time I thought what a GREAT time this is for music.

Echobelly 8 The Joiners 19 Oct 1995 Possibly this was 1994, I thought they were one of the first bands I saw at the Joiners, but I've got the details from Oliver Gray's gig list.

stellastarr* Islington Academy 24 Nov 2003 plus The Ordinary Boys and The 22s. Looks like everyone was there to see the Ordinary Boys, but I thought they were a bit ordinary... stellastarr were OK, not quite as convincing as on record though.

Phoenix Festival Santa Pod Raceway 18 Jul 1996 I clearly remember David Devant and Holy Barbarians, David Bowie, Sex Pistols and Foo Fighters too I think, must have seen a lot more though...

Toyah The Wedgewood Rooms 22 Mar 1994 Caberet, hosted by Lee Hurst, with TV Smith, Dave Spikey, Pooka, Crisis Twins and almost certainly the Raymond and Mr Timpkins revue. Not sure this date is right, thought they were all on Fridays...

Neds Atomic Dustbin Portsmouth Guildhall 19 Dec 1991 I saw them once more on this tour, in Reading uni / poly I think, can't find the date though...

Beetle Bash Avon Park Raceway 07 Jul 1995 VW festival. I'm sure there were bands, can't remember which ones though. Was it Beetle Bash or Bug Jam that had The Prodigy, with Keith Flint rolling across the crowd in a big hamster ball?

David Devant and his Spirit Wife New Cross Venue 20 Dec 1996 Before I lived in New Cross, didn't really know where it was. We thought we could get a tube there (it was not running) and walked back to Waterloo after...

The Cuban Boys The Garage 08 Aug 2000 Don't recall if they did their "Hamster Dance" single, I do remember an ace cover of "Self Esteem", though I could possiblybe mixing it up with an earlier Helen Love gig... Plus The Fighting Cocks.

Monsters of Rock Castle Donington 04 Jun 1994 Aerosmith, who I hardly even remember. Not a great lineup, though the biggest one ever. I enjoyed Wildhearts and Terrorvision.
