assura group has a metronome page, looks like they own other medical type facilities so this backs up the story of it being bought by a health care trust.

Just found a PJ Harvey gig at the Metronome, and another where she almost played at Bottoms. But it was cancelled.

Still looking for more Folkestone gig histor, if you can contribute any please do...

Free parking at festival for car sharers

Free parking in some overflow car park or other if you have three people in your card it says here. Also a shuttlebus will be taking you to and from Westenhanger and Ashford stations, I hope that's free but I really don't know.

I should be going to this really shouldn't I, everyone at work is. If we didn't have a birthday bash in London right in the (Saturday night) middle of it I think I would.

Slight repost from the blog, but didn't we look nice on The Culture Show last night?

An aside, Vic Reeves said on the show last night that he lived in Folkestone for two years, in a flat overlooking the sea. Some misspeaking there I think, I believe he lived in the huge house opposite our flat on Earls Avenue. He would know better than I, but can you back up my beliefs with FACT?

You can get in free to ZooThousand and other festivals if you work as a volunteer... festivalvolunteer.co.uk for more details. Let me know how you get on.

If you don't want to you can buy tickets here, still some left. Seen lots of special offers for tickets locally, so there's a chance of other people being given free tickets I think, so well worth a look on here for tickets being sold at less than face value...

Step up to Business is a Short course (18hours) which will provide an enjoyable and lively look at business and enterprise.

Learners will learn the basic of business. Ideal for those considering a start-up or just to improve job, and promotion prospects. The course looks at business in general (From basic trading at boot fairs and eBay, and onto

growing a business). Whilst no previous business experience/knowledge is expected, students will be expected to attend and join in with the activities to ensure the learning is covered.

The sessions will also cover:

Business ideas- ideas to make money

Presentation- Make your pitch - as a Market trader or to the Bank

Effective Communication-Clear and simple speaking wins customers.

Business planning

Business finances

Some individual coaching may also be available to support students during the course.

Key details

-Applicants need to be 17 and over

-Application by completing a survey or by telephoning Tracey McRobert 01303 760606 or email name, address and phone number with Bridge to Business as the subject header to info@ucf.ac.uk.

-A short application will need to be completed during the first session and the candidate will need their National Insurance number.

-A short working document needs to be submitted. This is not substantial and help will be given during the sessions.

-Successful completion of the course is recognised with 10 credits -but not a formal university qualification.

-Candidates will need to attend sessions with a pen and pad.

-We will confirm details direct with the applicant by email and phone.
