Had a quiet night in last night, while Clare was out down Chambers with her bro, putting the world to rights. So, did some coding that I'd meant to do for ages, and put a new "new" feature on the popbitch board; posts that are new since your last visit should be highlit with a 
icon. It's not busy enough here to bother with that. Also updated their rss feed, and added some new ones; Board threads, board replies, question of the day answers, Question of the day replies, and front page stories, and I'll probably revisit and make some different feeds, and then some kind of demo that uses these feeds soon.
Trying to clear some space on this computer, Found a bundle of Mark and Lard downloads, and I have no room for them, so it's back to trying to use the old linux PC as a backup device, so I can burn some of my archive to disks AND keep it on that computer. It is tending to hang if it's left transferring anything for more than about five minutes though, resulting in a hard reset, piece of crap...

IPOD pants, Levi's possibly making a pair of fully wired jeans. There are a few things like this around already, but a pair of jeans is more practical around the home / office / high street than a bulky snowboard coat or rucksack. Oh and there's a new ipod firmware update out today. I'm off and wondering again about putting linux on it, just to see.
Seen: "Who Owns Britain" last night, we had to have a look as there would be www.hha.org.uk properties on there, but it was brilliant, I really enjoyed it. No surprises (rich people own more), and a bit of a skew to Jon Snow's pie chart when he didn't put farmers in with the public. I never watch an hour and a half of the same thing, but this was great.
Heard: Whatever people say I am, that's what I'm not, the debut Arctic Monkeys album. All quite familiar as the demos and things have been doing the rounds in the office for ages, but I've got a proper release copy now, it all seems to have been re-recorded (and more swearing added for some reason) and it's brilliant. Order it!
Got rid of the "hide all the posts that you've already seen" functionality from this page now, it was mostly rubbish, it needs more thinking about before I put something like that in again.

I think there are still some issues with it being partly "locked down", I don't know Macs, so I don't know what sort of admin functions there are hidden away from the user account that's on there... I have the install disks for OS9.2 so thought I'd reinstall that, give me a clean slate to play with, but it's having NONE OF IT, says "can't restore that disk, it's your start up disk", even if I boot off the CD... lots more to learn still.
Are you suggesting I PAY for an operating system? Putting Linux on is one option, but I want to learn Mac things, so would kind of be defeating the object of getting this thing.

Also there's an xml feed of putting linux on it, a JSON feed, and a KML feed of putting linux on it , search my putting linux on it venue info, putting linux on it on Your Folkestone.
