Oh no, that's good for Dover
Home
From 2009, the trains will run between London's King's Cross station and Ashford in 36 minutes - less than half the time it takes at present.
London to Canterbury journeys, which currently take 102 minutes, will come down to 60 minutes, while London to Folkestone, currently a journey that can take up to 98 minutes, will come down to 62.5 minutes.
Front page of the Evening Standard yesterday, with pictures of the new bullet trains, though they do say ticket prices are likely to rise by SEVENTY percent, yoinks. Canterbury is sounding more attractive than Folkestone right now, though I do like being right on the sea, and it's still affordable here.

I saw on Meridian News today that the HSR is now going all the way to Dover Priory - good news for the whole area I believe.

but with Dover being so much cheaper everyone who might have bought in Folkestone will buy there instead, and our property values won't go up as much!
Actually the leaflet we picked up on the train this week indicated the high speed link will be servicing stations past Dover on this line.

Umm... 36mins from London to Ashford - then 26.5 from Ashford to Folkestone? It's only 15mins by car!

And a short wait to meet up with another service I reckon... a lot of these numbers are guesses on the part of the journo's I think.

Which means that the HSR isn't coming to Folkestone then, only as far as Ashford? Confusing innit!

Might not be a change of trains, might be like it is now coming from Charing Cross to Folkestone (as I do every day), there's a long wait at Ashford for a connecting service, though no actual changing or splitting of the train.
