Last thing we heard

Good to see Folkestone on TV, on Relocation, Relocation last night... more in the Folkestone Forum... Wednesday night's a great night for TV, with that, Grand Designs, and Desperate Housewives. We're getting Sky+ installed today, though I don't know when we'll have time to watch any more. Getting a new carpet in today too, it's all go.

Someone in our building is having a laugh, there's a "Vote CONSERVATIVE" sign appeared in the front garden. Pretty sure that's against the terms of the lease.

Good journey in today, still a few minutes late though because of tube probs. Got one of my little commuting challenges RIGHT, in wearing the right jacket - it's hard to guess what will be good clothing for the day in London based on the weather when we wake up by the coast. Also made my tea, and brought my tea with me, this is good, and as usual we got our pick of the tables on the train. Got everything else wrong though, forgot my phone, forgot to charge my IPOD, and put on a jumper that I thought was clean and fresh, and it turns out to have bean juice on it. That's what you get for not being properly unpacked yet, and getting dressed in the dark...

it was good to see folkestone - if only they had better trains im sure more people would do your commute - if brighton has one why cant folkestone? also, kirsty was looking fit last night i thought. she's so masterful.

i'm willing to bet all my debt that it's against the terms of the lease now. I suggest that you take it out yourself and then wait to see who replaces it. when that person does, you take action. it's quite often the case that multi-occupation properties allow one tenant to enforce the terms of the lease against another tenant, even though there is no privity of contract. if you can do this, i encourage you to petition your local county court and DO THEM. of course, if it was a Vote Labour sign you should wage a war of violence against them.

lastly, may i recommend that you check the weather forecast when you wake up in the morning. i have a shortcut to the bbc central london weather forecast (which admittedly is notoriously shite) so i know which coat to wear.

There's a high speed rail link on the way

Not due for completion until 2009 though, should knock 40 minutes off the journey time... I'm pretty sure I know which tennant it is who's put the sign up, as they've put the same signs in their front window. There's only 4 flats in the block, don't want to start getting into legal tussles with anyone, but I'm checking with the other tennants what the position is...

Not online at home right now, otherwise we could check the weather.

Just had a KICK IN THE BAWS from Sky, they can't put the dish up today. There are other dishes up on the building, but it looks like they were all done at once by the same contractor, so the Sky guy thinks there might be a problem. We have to find out if one of them is ours, and if so which one. If we have one, we need permission to replace it with a Sky+ dish, and if there's not one for us we need permission to put one up... why can nothing be simple?

I'm looking to relocate to Folkestone as I want to get out of London and commute to Office. Attracted to Folkestone because of all the investment + major reason being high speed link. However everyone I ask has a different opinion on whether Folkestone West or Central will be getting the high speed trains even SouthEasternRailways customer services give conflicting advice day to day ! Can you shed any light on this issue please ? Last snippet of gossip I've heard is that compulsory purchase order has been put on land next to Folkestone West for intended car park ?

Last thing we heard

was from a leaflet given out at the station, a mockup of a timetable that listed Folkestone Central, Folkestone West (renamed Folkestone Parkway), Sandling, Ashford, then on to somewhere like Ebbsfleet, Stratford and London Kings Cross... I posted this somewhere on the Folkestone Forum...

Do you know how close Folkestone Central and Folkestone West are? We live about half way between the two, in the West End, they're both less than ten minutes walk away.

why not?

nothing like a good old fashioned expensive legal tussle with your newish neighbours!!! of course i was only kidding - it's only a few days till the election anyway. FINGERS CROSSED FOR THE BLUES!!! mwahahahaaaaaa

40 mins - it should be more. i think by rights it should be a 45 min journey and a season ticket should be £100 a year. also, wot's the point of having high speed trains that cant go high speed!!!

They can go high speed

but they have to keep stopping at stations.. there was a letter in the Folkestone Herald (not Folkestone Gerald) saying "it's not fair that the new high speed trains won't be stopping at my pissant hamlet station (I'm paraphrasing here) when it's stopping at other stations"... If it stopped at every bump in the track it wouldn't be very high speed, now would it? I'd like the train I get now to stop less places, just Folkestone Central OR Folkestone West (not both), and from there direct to London Bridge. OK, could maybe stop at Ashford, Tonbridge, or Sevenoaks too.

aahhh i see. well i think it should stop at ashford only. sevenoaks and tonbridge already have good connections - sevenoaks particularly has more than enough direct trains to town. if it stops everywhere, it defeats the whole point of being a fast route and becomes a somewhat stupidly expensive standard commuter train. *tut*

BUT, it needs to get off to a start

There's a vicious circle in effect, not many people commute in from Folkestone currently as there's not a fast service, so initially it'll have to stop at *ptuh* other stations...
