Love on the roof

With some sort of rice!
Partook of a truly historic barbecue this evening, on the roof of a record shop of all places. I started off with some vegetable kebabs, huge chunks of aubergine, courgette, onion and something suspicious. At first it looked like fish, but then Mrs Pauly established it was Haloumi. It's a wacky kind of cheese, as it seems not to melt, so I managed to pick it off the skewers. It didnt' taint the rest of teh vegetables which were jolly enjoyable.
As an accompaniment, I chose some sort of cous cous salad affair, with beans and other things. A bit like rice salad, but with cous cous (or perhaps some other kind of grain) instead of the rice. Also on the side I had a spectacular potato salad, halved new potatoes, still in their skins, in a vinaigrette dressing, it was historic!
Of course, being a barbecue, there were meat options. The burgers looked to be hand made and were apparently, it was "very nice", though the bun was a little dry. Also there was a chicken, possibly a thigh (though that seems unlikely to me) cooked to a suitable crispiness. There was salad too, but it was just salad, nothing special.
We didn't brave the puddings, though there seemed to be fruit salad, some sort of brownie and a summer pudding, a fabulous spread.
Calm down dear, it's only a review! I'm actually a very good gig goer! The Darkness blew the roof off Oxford St Virgin Megastore for Kerrang day. Apparently there were Kerrang award nominations read out earlier, probably you can see them at kerrang.com.
