Green Day cover Billy Idol...
Big Up to all concerned for Friday Night's "secret" Green Day Gig at London's King's College, despite the ABYSMAL weather, the crowd were way enthusiastic, and the band returned their energy in full... brief highlights included:
* The band covering Billy Idol's Dancing With Myself
* Billy Joe forming a new band, by hooking punters out of the crowd, testing their skills, and making them play... can't remember what this new three piece is called, but Billy Joe is their manager
* Not a cliche at all, no way, they SMASHED THE FACKING PLACE RIGHT UP at the end of the gig... not just a "switch the real guitar for a fake and hit it on the floor" but totalling the stage... guitars went through drums, drums went through amps, amps went through the floor, it was MOTLEY CRUE - TASTIC!
Reports that the new songs are all soft and ballady may have been an exaggeration, the gig was Henry Rollins laminated in SOLID DIAMOND, that's how hard it was.
Don't remember any other particular songs after the throwaway opener of Welcome to Paradise, the free bar saw to that, don't remember the long walk home in the pouring rain (spot the lyric anyone?) too clearly either.
Green Day; don't write them off yet.
