My name is also John Windebank. My sister is currently researching our family tree. There is a possibility that there may be a connection as there are several similar christian names, which often happens in families.
Coincidentally we have also found a Windebank on the Titanic - he was a sauce maker! We don't know if he was connected to us.

Hi John,
Where do your Windebank's come from, ours are shopkeepers from Cosham,Portsmouth area ( those that I have found so far).Like Paul said in his reply most families have similar first names.I never thought to look for any other family on the Titanic.lots of people have family legends that they would like to be true.We were lucky and have been told about a Pub & Brewery,(The King & Queen Inn) a Farm, some one on the Titanic (CV Clarke & Wife). The only thing we have not found is "The family fortune"!!!

Thanks for all this John... we've had a few red herrings before because of really common forenames, they all seem to have been called James in our family history, but I think Dad has contacted other Windebanks, so maybe he'll have some info for you.
