put message on board to trace family tribe form sussex. Grandfather name not George but Frederick Tribe. We know the name Tribe is a Sussex name, but we live in Cheshire, where th name is very uncommon. Also know the family had connections with the name Butcher.

My mother is Iris Tribe. She is one of 3 children
the others being Lilian-Jane and Fred Tribe. They were born to Fred Tribe and Lilian Tribe and lived in Cosham, Hampshire.

Hi Stuart, not sure if there's a connection with our lot or not - the only Tribes we have are Sarah Tribe my Great Great Grandmother, born 1824 who married James Cole Clarke. Her father Thomas Tribe (probably born in the 1790 / 1800s) could have had more children, we don't know for sure, though the area seems about right. I've passed this on to my dad, who is the genealogist (I just update the website), maybe he knows more. Would be great to find out if there's a connection or not. So you have no info further back than Fred Tribe?
There have been other Tribes in the area posting on our forum, search for Sarah Tribe here. Might be some lines to follow up there...
