PSP Update

I updated Clare's PSP yesterday, it's now got a new version of it's little operating system, which you can download direct from Sony. As well as some security issues and the ability to play Windows Media files now, it's got an RSS reader too. I hope this means we can subscribe to podcasts and have the audio / video / pictures download automatically, will report back. While I'm here, Iw ill say again what a GREAT piece of kit this is, much recommended. Here are the five games we have, a slight repost from popex:
Grand Theft Auto - Liberty City Stories. Ace, exactly like Vice City on the PS2, but all new missions, vehicles, mini games etc. A must if you liked Vice City at all.
SSX On Tour. Again a sequel to the PS2 SSX snowboarding games. We loved these, it's new courses, new tricks, new features, and all in your hand. With GTA (above) these must be the two best PSP games around by far.
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Not all that so far, better for kids maybe, not explored this game much yet though.
Everybody's Golf. This came with our bundle, it's a fun golf game. No, really, better than it sounds.
F1 Grand Prix. No idea, haven't looked at it, it came with the bundle also.
Might be a while before we get any more, but the built in web browser is going to make this a long useful device even if we never get another game. If it can be hacked, then that's great. Here's someone who's using the PSP as a remote control for a real car.
Please send me your recommended PSP sites

The software I've been having fun with recently is http://www.pqdvd.com/psp/. I've also invested in a Logitech case. My main source of info has been that site you sent me which is http://www.psp411.com/. Think it was you that sent me it. If I get anything else I'll let you know. Like-wise daddio.

Hi Paul, I am a friend of Nic P and often check your website from the link from his. My link is there to.
Anyway, you probably know this, but if you had left Clare's PSP with an earlier O/S there are loads more things you could have done with it.
Have a look at

I updated mine to 2.50 and can't downgrade at the moment, but once I can I will as there is loads more stuff you can do with the little baby.
I think it's the best piece of kit ever. I got some nice software which sits on my PC and allows me to play my music collection through the browser. As long as my webserver is working fine, I can access my music collection on my PC, which is lovely.
Great website by the way.

Gah, have I messed up? We are on 2.60 now. I don't imagine it's easy to change down to an earlier version of the firmware... Cheers for the links...

Anything upto version 2.0 is downgradeable (is that a word?) anyway it wont be long until 2.6 is cracked...although 2.5 is taking a while.
My friend has hacked his and now has pretty much every game for it! Although at the present he cant play GTA as that needs 2.5. I think more games are getting firmware specific.
Carry on the good work.

not sure what version our firmware was to start with, but I've checked out those sites and looks like there are people working on cracking 2.60 (what we have now)...
GTA needs *at least* 2.50 do you mean? The wife will murder me if thanks to this upgrade we can't play the games we have...

Sorry, yeah, it needs at least 2.5.
Not sure if you like football, but I bought FIFA06 and took it back and got Pro Evo 5, which is truely amazing by comparison.
Don't bother with Prince of Persia...it's bug ridden and frustrating as hell!
I bought a battery for my PSP to give it 10 hours of play time...works a treat and only £20...means the PSP is bulky as the battery is twice the size of the original, but for the extra juice, its' worth it. Managed to go to New Zealand and pretty much play for 14 hours using the orignal battery and the new one.
