Well I didn't know they'd lived in Stoke Newington, but according to this, they did.
These new Google alerts are great... Why's it always The Scotsman who seem to get the news first though?

The Scotsman appears to publish most of the Press Association wire stories straight away - and it's PA which gets most stories first.
Dodgy situation for PA, of course, with its wire being all-but reproduced for free on the Scotsman site. You used to get a similar situation with Ananova when that started, as PA owned Ananova then.

They must pay a licence or something don't they?

You pay your subs to PA, and a lot of regional papers (and the Express group) uses its stuff verbatim - but few put it online.

You can get all the alerts you need from Google now... It is a bit of an odd situation, Surely something will come of it soon. Are the Scotsman the only ones to be doing this? Or just the fastest..?

Probably the only ones who allow it to filter through to Google News, at least.

Oh - and I'd imagine PA subs cost a fortune, although you could always ask... http://www.pa.press.net
Years ago, Compuserve used to publish loads of PA stuff, and I worked for a news agency which, um, lifted it and presented it as our own...
