RE: History of East Meon

This is a nice site. Looking in to East Meon, just where is it and what does it mean and why does it seem so many of my family were baptised there? I guess it was a central place for registering baptisms, they can't all have actually lived there.

From 1598 Bishops Transcripts came into being, this required Parish registrars to send copies to the Bishops. Perhaps East Meon is the area Bishop at that time
