Homeboys

Ive been noticing that the rapper guys on the street that the t shirts are below the knees, the rim of the basketball caps are straight with no curve and their necklaces have things like nailclippers and mini compasses hanging from their neck. Where are they getting the influence from? I dont get it. Anybody got any suggestions to help a white boy understand?
