Bum cream ads for you, thanks #google
Read all about it at the Guardian. Putting this up here as I have google ads on my site, so just letting you know that if you suddenly start seeing adverts for bum cream here, and I'm not even talking about bum cream on the blog (if there even is such a thing as bum cream) it would be because you have previously visited bumcream.com. I'm not making that into a link as I don't even want to know if it's real. Anyway, here is the gen from google themselves:
We use third-party advertising companies to serve ads when you visit our website. These companies may use information (not including your name, address, email address, or telephone number) about your visits to this and other websites in order to provide advertisements about goods and services of interest to you. If you would like more information about this practice and to know your choices about not having this information used by these companies, click here.
Actually you shouldn't ever see personally targetted bum cream ads, because The Guardian says:
It will not record visits to sites listed as sensitive by the European Union, which include finance, politics, religion, health, sexual orientation or pornography, and, because the cookie is related only to one browser, it is not attached to users' Google accounts such as email or documents that contain a user's name, address or personal information.
Bum related activity is covered in at least one of those sections.
Making this page a permanent link from my side bar, will possibly add more privacy related things to this link...
[strong]I only ask for your details in order to personalise the site better to your needs, and to contact you with information you have requested from the site. I will not sell or otherwise pass on your details to third parties (unless required to by law). This site sets cookies on your local machine so I can identify you when you return. Search for how to block cookies or clear cookies for your individual web browser if you'd like not to do this. You can post messages and advertise events without giving any personal details, but you will have to fill out a captcha form (type the number you can see in this box) so that I can distinguish between a genuine request and a dirty robot spammer...[/strong]
