Strange time travel

As previously possibly mentioned, I am listening to old Mark Radcliffe radio shows, on the mp3. Just listened to the last ever graveyard shift show on Radio One, and then (in exactly the wrong order) the first ever graveyard shift show from 1993. And the guest on both of them were Tindersticks. How lovely! Playing their brand new signle Tiny Tears on the 1993 show.

Both shows also feature poet-laureate-to-be Simon Armitage, I still remember his poem featuring the prostitutes of Portsmouth (where he was a student).

Why's radio not that good any more?
