Costa Coffee coming to Folkestone

Costa Coffee 5.71 child friendly :: [comment] :: [delete]

Costa Coffee are moving into Sandgate Road, in the old QS premises. the store opens in September, and they're currently advertising for employees.

So, does this mean still is, or they never were, or what? Did the Costa factoid confuse the news (and rumour) mongers?

Here is a picture of QS, so you can remember it as it was (just after it shut down). If you squint you can possibly make out the phone number to call for job opportunities. Do they need a web developer do you think..?

OH YEAH, the in nearby is also closing, this is a good sign, is right on the up I feel.

Decent places to get a coffee

Again a bit late...
Yep Folkestone is crap for bars and cafes. Also, the Quarter ceased in August 2005 unfortunately because they all needed to make a living and it was mainly self funded. However, should you want a good coffee, better than Chambers, then try Sweet Rendezvous on Rendezvous Street (opposite Wetherspoons), which is run by 2 poles who used to work in The Spence in Stoke Newington, funnily enough and where I used to live for a couple of years. They make all their own bread, on the day, and cakes with no additives and preservatives, and certainly not de-frosted like Luca's on Guildhall Street. Plus, the coffee is proper.Well it isn't Tchibo thats for sure. Things will improve, once the Foster Partners Harbour Development goes ahead, but not if the seafront does.Aaaah...I've just seen you moved to Folkestone. So you will probably know all that.

The first rule about job club

Google blogger sacked, don't talk about work kids...

Great weekend with a visit to Folkestone by Mum and Dad, took a trip to Lympne Castle, picked out some paint for the front room, and I DROVE A CAR, for the first time in about 8 years... piece of cake, I will be fine driving round the Americas.

Did quite a sweep of Folkestone establishments this weekend, went to twice, a quick drink on Friday night and then a more leisurely sit yesterday watching a band called Rosie's Dumplings. Dreadful name, but good Irish folkie sort of stuff. Also checked out the on , very odd boozer, and an odd crowd, if you can call half a dozen punters a crowd. Still, we drank booze and played pool and darts, can't complain. The pub looks sadly like it's about to close, but they make an effort, and we're going to go back there again. Mind you we said that about a similar style of pub in Stokey when we first moved here and we have NEVER been back to it.

Saturday we had a great meal with both sets of parents at in , always love it there, though I'm not sure Mum's vegetable paella was up the standard of everyone elses meal. From there, on to in , fast becoming my favourite pub in town. Fantastically friendly crowd in there that night, forcing free food on us all, the fire was roaring, and the range of beers had rotated. Dropped off the car and then on to so driver Jim could have a beer too.

Our lovely new fire is now all covered up with masking tape and newspaper, and we've started painting the walls white, made a bit of a mess so far really... new carpet's being fitted on Tuesday, so we're going to have to be extra careful to cover that up.

Train delayed on the way back into London this morning, which has made us have more doubts about how we will cope with commuting in. STILL, got to give it a try, once we get into a routine we'll be cool I think.
