Strange email of the day:

My name is **** and I am very interested to hear that you have had strange experiences at the Mayfly.

I am part of a Paranormal Investigation team called ‘Beyond The Mist’ and am enquiring if you would allow us to do an Investigation in The Mayfly. We are a professional team and would treat the property with respect

This is our website address (so that you can check we are genuine)

beyondthemist-ekpg.tripod.com

My emphasis on the word "genuine" there... For the record I've never been to the Mayfly, let alone had a Derek Acorah moment there... I have noticed that since the our house is a lot colder inside than it is outside though, probably an indian burial ground was disturbed or something.

I've run out of disk space, gonna buy me a firewire drive.

Ah, there's me changing the names to protect the innocent and she's posted on my other site anyway...

Hens Teeth

Ah, the opening track to my favourite album... no that's not it, this is about TurboNegro and the Darkness and that.

Some news from Tremendous Mike:

A lucky few of you may own our (Must Destroy's)rare as hen's teeth 7"s by the (International) Noise Conspiracy and The Von Bondies.
Most of you, however, will not.
And you don't stand hardly any chance now either (unless your'e willing to cough up the bucks for an E-bay purchase).

Don't make that mistake again. Make sure you're their when the doors to your local record store open on 5th August to get yourself copies of the next pair of super limited 7"s.

They are…
TURBONEGRO 'Get It On' / 'Rock Against Ass' double A-side.
Tremendous Mike asked his pals at Turbomansions and Burning Heart Records if they fancied the idea of a UK-only 7".. Just to remind people what an awesome album 'Apocalypse Dudes' is. They said yes. So here it is.

There's no real 'point' to it.. Other than to be able to say we did it.
Get one while theyr'e going. Cos there really isn't many!!

LOGH 'Ghosts' / 'White As Snow'
'Ghosts' is taken from Logh's Must Destroy album 'Every Time A Bell Rings, An Angel Gets His Wings'… 'White As Snow' is previously unreleased.

This lovely 7" is limited to 300 copies!!! And, what's more, 100 of them are lovely WHITE VINYL!

ALSO (hello, Pauly back again now), don't forget the Darkness album is out today, get yours signed at HMV today, if you live in London Village that is... did you hear them on XFM this morning? I did, ROCK...

On my own today

Work's been a bit hectic, my IT colleague is out sick, so I'm fielding all enquiries (though generally just batting them back with "dunno, turn it off and on again"). Also Clare is working from home today, so I had to commute in on my own, I think this is what stopped me snoozing on the train.

Today, mostly looking forward a) to getting home, but also b) my trip to Street Station this Friday, and c) a weekend with the family.

The trip to Down Street (not to be confused with Downing Street, where I am also off soon, stay tuned) has led me down some conversational avenues, just what is underneath Oxford Street? There once was a river, so I assumed this just turned into sewers and things but a search turns up this:

was watching a program on C4 last night, the hundred greatest christmas moments or some such thing, and one of the entries was a film by Malcolm Mclaren called The Ghosts of Oxford Street which there doesn't seem to be much info about on the net. Anyway, John Altman who played Nick Cotton in Eastenders was in a bit of the film apparently actually under Oxford Street where there still exists part of this Victorian Street... He claimed Malcolm McLaren let him through a hole in the basement of Selfridges. If anyone can find some stills from the film, they will be able to see what supposedly is the old Victorian Street.

This was all quite possibly covered in Underground London, a book what I read, but am having trouble remembering... time for a revisit, or maybe a delve into Beneath The Streets Of London, or Secret London. OR, even better, I'll ask Inspector Sands, he'll know.

Enjoyed last night, we had snatches of what was going on but didn't quite figure out whodunnit... if that thread was truly in a loop, then why would they need to set light to it? Why not cut it and just it all through? Seemed a bit silly to me.
