As posted on Folkestone Gerald:
a good place to invest is somewhere that has a Blockbuster, but not yet a Starbucks
You've got until July to get in.

Damn, missed that show, it was all about buy to let / second homes anyway wasn't it?
Folkestone has risen in price too much over the past four years to make it a bargainous buy to let - the rental value of my place would not cover my mortgage, though that's unlikely to be the same across the cheaper parts of town. Dover is pretty close, only one stop on the train away and is likely to pick up value when Folkestone gets the high speed rail link. Our journey time to London will be less, but possibly theirs will decrease by a larger proportion than ours... possibly.
See the Folkestone Forum for more Folkestone property related things...

A High Risk says the Where Best To Invest website:
3000 new jobs could be created by a £100 million expansion of the White Cliffs Business Park, but it all rests on whether a certain DIY store decides to relocate. Even without the investment, house prices could go up by 38.8% in the next five years, but it’s still a risk.
Be interesting to look back on these figures in five years.
