Blog2022 ≫ Well I would not say happy about it...

Funny, was just talking about this on the phone, my energy bill direct debit was reduced to below enough to cover my bills, because of the madcap scheme Liz Truss and co came up with. So it's got to go up again, and then up a lot in April. I say funny, it's not that funny. Our house is insulated and efficient and I'm very frugal with the energy generally. If you're not, you're in trouble mate.

Good that previous tory strongholds like the Telegraph are at least admitting, yes, what we called project fear at the time is exactly what happened. If anything things are worse than the worst we brexit-sceptics could have come up with. Everything's a mess and you know what's to blame.

We recommend a typical monthly payment of £209.38 to smooth your future energy costs over the next year.

This means:

Until March

Your monthly payments will be £142.38 thanks to a £67.00 reduction from the Government's Energy Bill Support Scheme.

April onwards

Your monthly payments will be £209.38 to account for your future energy use. If your prices or consumption change in the meantime, we'll take that into account when adjusting your payments.

If you're happy with this recommendation, you don't need to do anything. We'll adjust your payments automatically, starting from your next monthly payment.

So as unhappy as I am with it, you're probably worse off. I think Octopus are quite good, and if you switch by signing up here https://share.octopus.energy/cute-elm-487 we both get a very handy fifty quid. So do it!

Work very busy again today, for a change. I have been battling with a GDPR cookie banner, in a language I don't speak.

Iron Maiden thirty-two years ago today! I must have told the story at least thirty-two times, annually on the anniversary. Tommy Vance gave us our tickets and we went in late and missed Wolfsbane. I don't actually remember that gig being on my Nan's birthday but it seems it was.
