Blog2017 ≫ Aha Every Day Carry is a philosophy...

It's not just preparing to be attacked or to escape from the boot of a car like Macgyver could, it's a way of life1.

Clare thinks I am looking a bit like a serial killer with my new found interest in this stuff, in pocket multitools for "just in case situations". My search history would condemn me, I do end up looking on sites like gerber-store.co.uk2 and they do sell big knives and things, but I'm not planning to buy a big knife and carry it with me. Not every day.

OK I am thinking of getting a Stanley Fubar3 and keeping it with a "go bag" by the front door, so we're all ready to go when the zombie apocalypse comes, but that's perfectly normal. It looks just the job to handle all of my escape / survival / build a new settlement needs.

Seems a lot of people into this everydaycarry.com4 lark are preparing for something, at least at the back of their minds. Preparing for a zombie apocalypse, or civil war, or a tsunami or something. At least in some cases it is preparing for the damn government to come and try and take their guns away from them. Mostly they're preparing for a siege situation, a stand off with the feds.

I was thinking about this the other day when I thought about the boys and how they like to sit on the sofa, in a nest of cushions, with a big stack of stuff around them. They often gather the nerf guns and the light sabers other weapon-like toys around them. Even the skittles for some reason, not sure what use they are. There must be something instinctive and primal about doing this. Or, they have inherited my mentalness.

So far I have used my wallet ninja every day since Clare got it for me at christmas, mostly for opening packaging and fixing my stupid pebble watch. Maybe one day it will get me out of a hostage situation or zombie attack, but until then I'm pleased with the little screwdriver element to it.

Pay day pretty soon, what do I buy next?
